About the Author
Hossein Bidgoli, Ph.D., is professor of Management Information Systems at California State University. Dr. Bidgoli helped set up the first PC Lab in the United States and served as its first director. He is the author of 45 textbooks, 27 manuals and more than five dozen technical articles and papers on various aspects of computer applications, information systems and network security, e-commerce and decision support systems published and presented throughout the world. Dr. Bidgoli also serves as the editor-in-chief of THE HANDBOOK OF TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT, THE INTERNET ENCYCLOPEDIA, THE HANDBOOK OF INFORMATION SECURITY, THE HANDBOOK OF COMPUTER NETWORKS, and THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS. THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS was a recipient of one of the Library Journal's Best Reference Sources for 2002. Whether taking an MIS course or just looking to learn more information about the MIS field this book will teach you what you need to know. Professor Bidgoli keeps his information and case studies up to date with the latest information and news. The information provided in the book is essential to anybody looking to be in the MIS or business fields. The book will open your mind to a world of MIS and IT that many people may not know, not only through the text but through the many online resources that come along with it. Professor Bidgoli is a very knowledgeable man and has done a great job at creating this book and keeping it relevant. If you have the opportunity to take his course, don't pass it up! He is an amazing professor and writer, and I highly recommend this book for anybody looking for a complete introduction to MIS.

This is a great detailed introduction to management information systems

This is a great detailed introduction to management information systems. Every chapter includes helpful study tools, as well as detachable study cards in the back of the book. There are multiple case studies in each of the chapters that relate the concepts to real world businesses. I would recommend this book to anyone who was interested in learning more about IT and for anyone who is thinking about going into any aspect of business. With the business world using more and more information technologies it is necessary that people and companies stay current on the every changing world of technology. And that people in the business world know how to use these technologies effectively. Bidgoli's fifth edition of MIS is a very helpful first step in this process. Great for students and anyone looking to learn more about management information systems.
