Great resource on the transformative potential of the Maker Movement for learning

This amazing series brings together the most prominent scholars and practitioners working in Maker education today, to bring to light the great work that has already been done as well as the enormous potential in using hands-on maker activities to give kids personal, in-context experience with academic content, resilience, creativity, problem-solving, and countless other skills. This volume reviews various maker environments, whether in school, out of school in places like museums, or online. It also includes an important chapter by Paulo Blikstein and Marcelo Worsley that reminds us to approach what may seem like an educational "fad" more critically and inclusively. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the Maker Movement and transforming education.

This is a great piece showcasing the work and thoughts of many of the prominent maker educators and researchers in the field today. Extremely relevant as education and schooling are under pressure from multiple directions. This book is volume 1 of a two-part series: here the focus is specifically on physical and digital making environments and how they can support and drive deep and meaningful learning. This is an excellent book for educators of all types, parents, and education advocates looking to explore more expansive and interest-driven notions of learning.
